Home sales rose across the state in August, compared to a year ago, but median prices fell statewide with the exception of condominiums on the Big Island, which were helped by strong price gains in North Kona.
Oahu enjoyed a 21 percent increase in sales of single-family homes but at the expense of a 13 percent decline in median price. Maui saw a similar trend in the single-family home market.
Note that the smaller number of sales on the Neighbor Islands tends to create more dramatic percentage changes than on Oahu.
