Warren Buffet is a smart man

Recently, Warren Buffett had an interview with CNBC on his take on investing in real estate, and this is what he said:

"Warren Buffett says along with equities, single-family homes are a very attractive investment right now.

Appearing live on CNBC'sSquawk Box, Buffett tellsBecky Quick he'd buy up "a couple hundred thousand" single family homes if it were practical to do so.

If held for a long period of time and purchased at low rates, Buffett says houses are even better than stocks.  He advises buyers to take out a 30-year mortgage and refinance if rates go down."

Unlike all the overbuilding that was seen in most areas on the mainland over the past few years, home prices and inventory have been steady here in the islands, especially in certain areas on Oahu that had a very limited amount of growth based on geographic limitations alone (No space to build!).  The windward side, East Oahu and even more robust growth markets like Mililani have maintained their value and are actually starting to see an uptick in home prices recently with many listings being sold for MORE than asking price.  Give me a call if you're interested in finding out how much your house is worth and if now is a good time for you to sell.

Aloha,
John
